10 years ago, Caitlin Callanish was trained and destined to be Highpriestress of an old Scottish Wiccan coven but she failed initiation. Now she’s living in Berlin, working as a shamanic healer and has coped with her life. Everything’s fine, until the successor-highpriestress gets murdered and a mysterious man appeares, claiming to possess an unpublished manuscript of Katherine Oldmeadow – one of the witches who founded the New Forest coven, who is believed to have initiated Gerald Gardner, father of the modern Witchcraft cult. The manuscript may be the hidden key to Oldmeadow’s Book of Shadows, a witches’ diary, and therefore could prove ultimately if Gardner invented Wicca, or if it is indeed the century-old religion, as Gardner always said to be.

Trying to prove the authenticity of the book and finding the killer of her ex-coven-sister, Caitlin Callanish is caught up in an investigation whose outcome could turn the pagan world upside down.
